Hello!

Many of you have written back to me or to the list to say that you would
like to help reorganize the Ghana trip. I am delighted and would like
to meet with folks when I have some information to share from Sharon
Gale and other sources. I also encourage you to comb the web and look
for groups that might replace Aba Tours for a fall trip. I know that
some of you cannot travel in September/October and others can. Lets get
together, have a party and make some plans. More specifically, Carolyn
Kroll and I would like to invite you to attend a fufu and koklodetsi
(pounded yam with chicken sauce) dinner at her house on Saturday, March
24th from 6:30 to 8:30 (or later!). Carolyn lives at 1009 Monmouth Ave
in Durham, which is very close to One World Market. I will invite my
friend Agbessi, who it Togolese but has lived in Ghana. Carolyn and I
both have slides to show you and I am certain we can keep the momentum
going. My husband and I are looking in to going to Ghana in the fall
for a planning trip, but that could also become a group trip. Here are
a few of the main things to consider in searching for a Ghana travel
partner:

1. Can the organization make a custom designed trip?
2. Do they have contacts with artisan groups?
3. Do they have experience with volunteer projects and a good
understanding of the type of exereince we are seeking?
4. Do they own sufficient vehicles to provide in-country transport? If
not, how do they usually handle transport?
5. What accommodations can they offer?

Ellie could provide, transport, lodging, meals, food, contacts with
artisans and ship any items we ordered for the store. Sharon can help
with the artisan contacts and ordering and she is looking for tour
people who can do the lodging and transport. I am sure we can find a
solution.
